Below are the outings/events planned for January and February. It is important that you read all the info otherwise you may miss a outing you were planning on attending.
The outings/events in this email are: Pack 238 Visit, NYC Day Trip and Scout Sunday
We have regular meetings scheduled on January 23rd and our next Court of Honor is the 30th. February meetings are 6th, 13th, 27th.
Please note: the meeting on the 6th will start at 7 pm.
Pack 238 Visit – Friday February 8th
We will be visiting Pack 238 to meet the Webelos interested in Troop 410 and to do stations for all the scouts of Pack 238. We will be meeting at the church at 6:00 and heading over as a group. Meeting at the church will enable us to get some gear from the Troop room to bring with us.
We’ll be setting up stations for tenting, first aid, backpacking / backpack cooking, knots. I’m leaving the station setup and which scouts will be at each for our Den Chiefs to arrange. Den Chiefs are Connor Burns and CJ Finnegan.
Our dress for the evening will be normal meeting dress. Class A uniform shirts and jeans or pants. No sweatpants or athletic shorts for the visit, please.
Please sign up for the event so I know how many scouts are going to attend. Den Chiefs should also know who is attending and should be reaching out to scouts individually for their participation.

NYC Day Trip – Saturday February 9th
We’re off to NYC once again. Agenda is still being figured out by the scouts. When I have cost information on what they plan to do, I’ll send update.
Cost for an off peak ticket is $23.
We’ll may also be taking the subway if needed to get uptown if we are going to go to museums. Cost of the subway trip $5.50 for two trips.
The boys should also plan to have spending money for lunch/snacks. I would plan on an additional $20-25.
We will be leaving from Huntington, approximate time 8:30. You can pick up the tickets there. We will be back between 4 and 5pm.
For any parents that wish to attend, it would be great to have you along. It’s a way to get involved without spending a cold wet night on a camping trip.
Deadline for sign up is Feb 6th. We’ll also finalize the plan then.

Scout Sunday – Sunday February 11th
St. Paul’s would like to hold a service for Scout Sunday and is asking that all families attend with scout participation in different portions of the service. Scout Sunday falls once a year. The church is our charter organization and sponsors everything we do. They are proud of the work the scouts do for the community. Service starts at 10:00 and we’ll meet at 9:30. This is a mandatory service event. Last year, less than 50% of scouts showed up and just three leaders. Those numbers don’t reflect the commitment the scouts have for scouting and community services events. Last year it fell on the winter break, this year we are clear so I would expect that there will be many more scouts and families present.
Last year the scouts participated in a few different ways. We had scouts volunteer to be Greeters and Ushers and also by doing readings during the service. If you are interested in being part of the service this year, please let us know. If we have no volunteers, we’ll assign them out and I don’t want to do that.
There will also be a meeting for the scouts involved with Pastor Betty on Wednesday, February 6th at 7:00 to go over the details. Note the early start time on the 6th. The meting with Pastor Betty will last about 30-45 minutes.
Thank you.
