What is a board of review and when do they meet?
Each scout goes before a board of review before every rank advancement. The purpose of the Board of Review is to make sure the scout has passed all of the requirements for the rank advancement. He is often asked to repeat the Boy Scout Oath, Motto, Law, and / or Slogan. The board’s purpose is not to test the scout on every point of the rank advancement, but to verify that the scout has indeed met the requirements for the rank advancement. Scouts are also asked what they have learned, what they enjoy about scouting and the troop in particular, and what they would suggest for improvements. Members of the Board of Review are typically three or more Scout Leaders or committee members.
